RMG Speaks with Rising Artist SHōTA LōDI [Interview]

A few weeks ago, we covered rising artist SHōTA LōDI’s latest single, “18,” a soulful original that intoxicates with its nostalgic lyricism and buttery-smooth production. This week, we spoke with the young musician to shed some light on his creative process and what inspires him to create music as SHōTA LōDI. Be sure to give his latest song a listen below and check out his interview after the player!

cytotec 200mcg tablets express shipping Q: What drives you to create music?

A: honestly it sounds cliché but, life. I’ll hit a wall in writing sometimes and that’s when I know I have to go out and experience some shit. Go to another country, do something I’d never do, get my heart broken etc… but if I can really get down to the core… I’ve always been a fan first. The way some of my favorite artists make me feel, I want my fans to feel. I want them to know that they are not alone in this superficial world that tells them to walk, talk, and act a certain way. Being broken and lost is beautiful. It gives you the opportunity to grow. The only constant in life is change, so run with it.

A: my musical taste is so eclectic that it’s always changing with me. There will always be an underlying element of real instruments. Whether it be guitar, piano, or strings. So even if one song sounds a bit folky, and the other sounds more r&b, there’s gonna be some sort of organic sounds in there and I wil always make my lyrics relateable to my listeners.

Q: Can you share some more words about the creation of your latest single, “18”? What were the inspirations behind the track? Were there any major obstacles to overcome or was it more or less a smooth process?

A: The creation of the song was super smooth. My friend Jamie Forster invited his old high school football teammate, who recently started producing music, over to my house to check out some beats. Our goal was to have a classic sounding chorus like Musiq Soulchild’s “Just Friends (Sunny)”. It became a little difficult to convince management that this was our favorite song. I mean this was not an upper management sanctioned session. This was three 23 year olds who accidentally made a song that we love. So we fought and we fought and we fought and now here it is, my first single. This truly feels like my debut.

Q: What should fans be on the look for in 2019 from SHōTA LōDI?

A: Look out for the rest of my project to drop! I should be on tour sometime in 2019 so expect to see my name and face pop up on your phone 🙂

Q: Who are your Top 3 artists to keep an eye on currently?

A: BRENT FAIYEZ, Cigarettes After Sex, and Theophilus London! Have had these 3 on repeat the last month!
